EMPIRE STATE REALTY TRUST ANNOUNCES WEIBO CONTEST FOR THE 22ND ANNUAL EMPIRE STATE BUILDING VALENTINE’S DAY WEDDINGS EVENT

November 19, 2015

Shanghai (November 19, 2015) – The Empire State Building announced today that the 22nd Annual Valentine’s Day Weddings Event will be open to couples who live in China for the first time in the contest’s history.  The iconic landmark was selected by a nationwide poll in the United States to be the most romantic place to become engaged and will provide a once in a lifetime opportunity for one lucky couple from China to have the wedding of their dreams.

Engaged couples or couples looking to renew their vows can enter for a chance to win by following @TheEmpireStateBuilding on Sina Weibo and reposting the campaign launch post with an explanation of why they should be selected to have their wedding at the world-famous 86th floor Observatory. The Weibo contest will run from Thursday, November 19, 12:00PM to Friday, December 18, 11:59PM BJT.

For the 22nd year, ESB’s annual Valentine’s Day Weddings Event serves as the only day of the year couples may officially wed at the world-famous landmark. With the help of countless on-screen love stories such as Sleepless in Seattle, Gossip Girl and one of China’s most popular romances, Finding Mr. Right starring Wu Xiubo and Tangwei whose characters meet at ESB,  the world-renowned Observatory has become an unforgettable symbol of romance for Chinese couples.

“The Empire State Building attracts an increasing number of overseas tourists especially those from China, and receives numerous requests from happy couples hoping to wed while looking out at the most famous view in the world,” said Jean-Yves Ghazi, Director of the Empire State Building Observatory. “We are thrilled to open the opportunity to Chinese couples for the first time and offer our Observatory on the most romantic day of the year for a uniquely unforgettable experience and the wedding of a lifetime.”

Following the private ceremonies officiated by Mr. Ghazi that will begin at 8:00 AM on the Observatory, the winning couples will have the opportunity to take their wedding photos with the one-of-a-kind 360-degree views of New York City behind them. Additionally, the couples will enjoy an exclusive VIP continental breakfast at ESB’s newest restaurant, STATE Grill and Bar, which is located in the lobby of the Empire State Building.

The winning couple must be either a citizen of China or the United States, and must be of age to marry in the country of their citizenship. All couples must have a New York State marriage permit at the time of the wedding ceremony in order to legally marry.
